- Stealth Fighter 2.0™ Fixes and Changes
- =========================================
-
- Version 2.3.1 (Monday, 7-25-94)
-
- (1) Corrected a scan keyboard/keypad anomaly that caused some keys to
- repeat outside the timers.
-
- New Keys:
-
- (2) Command-1: Debug info on cockpit CRT. Added some new fields.
-
- (3) Command-2: Allows key repeat rate change while flying.
-
- (4) Command-3: Allows speed change (Realistic, Quick, Fast, Warp) while
- flying. Handy for warping around, then slowing things down for attacks
- or carrier landings.
-
- (5) The keyboard sensitivity setting (set by pressing keypad-0) will also
- adjust the joystick sensitivity when in Quick, Fast, or Warp modes.
-

-
- Version 2.3.0 (Friday, 7-22-94)
-
- (1) Lockout problem: An error in an assembler routine that checks mountains
- for collisions and distance could corrupt the stack. While we could not
- reproduce the problem here on any of our machines, a user in Colorado
- (you know who you are) worked with us until we narrowed it down.
-
- Special thanks !!
-
- (2) Speed Menu: The apparent speed problem comes about because we made
- some decisions concerning the speed of the aircraft versus the scale of
- the landscape. Vietnam (or any known land mass, for that matter) has a known
- physical size. A sub-sonic aircraft could take hours to reach a particular
- destination. In a game such as this, we have to balance the aircraft speed
- against a real ground speed. Many users felt we were too conservative.
-
- While in the cockpit, hit Command-Spacebar.
- You will notice a new speed menu. There are four choices.
- (a) Realistic: This was the original setting released with the game. This comes
- closest to a real F117a. They are not supersonic fighters.
- (b) Quick: This is now the new default setting. Apparent frame rate goes up.
- (c) Fast: Faster yet. Still playable.
- (d) Warp: As fast as it will go. BUT, some things work less well, AI aircraft crash
- a little too often. Missile accuracy declines. This is great for viewing Europe
- or Vietnam. But you will get your butt shot off by the enemy.
-
- To get the highest frame rate possible while flying:
- Turn the sound off from the menu bar.
- Hit 'S' (to switch to smaller screen)
- Hit 'V' (to switch to the simplified HUD)
- Hit Command-D until Detail Level 0 is set.
- (When the Track Cam is on, a new 3-D view generates. This slows it down)
- (Remember that Keypad-0 can be used to change the keyboard sensitivity
- when flying from the keyboard. The speed choices adjust this.)
-
- Our Numbers (peak, Libya mission):
- LC III: 6 physical frames per second
- Quadra 800: 15-20 physical frames per second
- (This will vary according to the terrain complexity.)
-
- (3) We have activated a Command-1 feature. This will show the PHYSICAL, as
- opposed to apparent, frame rate. It is an average computed every 8 game loops.
-
- (4) The wrap around problem where the game exited to the desk top after the
- debriefing screens is now understood and fixed.
-

-
- Version 2.2.0 (Wednesday, 7-6-94)
-
- (1) Some people still are having problems with the speed of the keyboard
- scanning. We have added a new feature to adjust this.
- a. While in the cockpit, hit Command-Spacebar to bring up the menu bar.
- b. Under Options, their are now 5 entries, Key Repeat 1x Second through
- Key Repeat 5x Second. The default is 3x per second. This (I hope) should
- correct this problem for everyone.
-
- (2) Sound Manager. We have rewritten the interface to sound manager. On some
- machines, lockouts could occur. Problems associated with this are now
- corrected.
-
- =========================================
-
- Version 2.1.0 (Tuesday, 6-7-94)
-
- (1) Keyboard IO is no longer driven via vertical blank installed interrupt.
- The keyboard is now polled.
- This solves problems associated with lots of interrupts during flying.
-
- (2) The collapse to desktop problem during the opening wrapper screens is solved.
- An uninitialized variable was defaulting to COMMAND_QUIT on some machines.
- This may or may not solve the end wrapper collapses that several people have
- reported (we cannot make it happen).
-
- (3) Fixed some oddities with pause (Command-P).
-
- (3) Compiler is now Think 7. Previously, we used Think 6.

- Version 2.0.0:
-
- This was the initial release.
